An elastic body hanging from a trapeze symbolizes the human tension involved in existing within a set of coordinates which allow the individual to keep identity intact. The artiste makes a series of acrobatic moves around the trapeze bar, which form a spatial trace of the relation which he maintains with the universe. The paths of his flight fragment the human silhouette and describe an arc below the trapeze. A fascination with the naked torso, and the succession of unexpected geometric compositions suggest incursions into the territory of desire and frustration. The sequence is broken in an act of instantaneous catharsis – he falls – this followed by the inevitable search for a stable point of anchorage.
