Man (a man), as an out-going social being is presented in this piece in a natural, open-air setting; the mood is almost romantic. Set off against the grandeur of the setting, he joins a group of other men who set off on a forward march; this is strenuous, they tire themselves, they commune together in ways that would not be possible in an enclosed space which would offer protection.
These travellers move as a single body, advancing day and night in a rhythmic swaying of sweaty torsos, united by a single desire. The camera’s gaze, an erotic gaze, follows the company on a journey which looks as if it will never end. A journey without aim or destination.
